Lightweight Hydraulic Systems

The piezo hydraulic pump (PHP) was originally developed for use in the aerospace industry.  Capable of creating powerful, lightweight, and fully redundant hydraulic systems, these pumps can be used for controlling everything from landing gear to flight control surfaces.

Active Vibration Damping

Piezoelectric actuators are used for active vibration damping in mechanical structures where vibrations are undesirable. Vibration damping can be designed to reduce noise, fuel consumption and energy waste. Although reducing mechanical vibration and sound levels in helicopter structures has drawn a lot of interest recently, the technology can be applied to other areas including airplanes, wind turbines, engines, machine tools, and more.

Satellite Thrusters

Micro-thrusters require both fast movement and precise timing to accurately control spacecraft position. Piezo-actuated valves provide both in a compact, lightweight device, ensuring smooth operation over entended periods of time.

Fuel Injectors & Emissions Control

Piezoelectric fuel Injectors are the next generation technology for both diesel and gas engines.  Capable of delivering up to 10 injections per stroke, no other technology can match their performance or reliability.  In addition, they increase power output, increase fuel economy, and reduce harmful emissions.  They can also be used in DEF systems to provide rapid response and precise control of injection into the exhaust stream.

LNG / Fuel Cells / Hybrids

The PHP is a powerful, compact, lightweight, and capable of operating at extremely low temperatures.  This makes them perfect for use in LNG fuel tanks and for pumping Liquid Hydrogen through fuel cells.  And since they're electrically driven, PHPs can provide high fluid pressures even when the engines is turned off.

Ultrasonic Tools

Piezos are the foundation of all ultrasonic medical devices including ultrasound scanners, dental scalers, and ultrasonic surgical tools.

MRI Cooling

Since the PHP movement does not produce is not magnetic fields, MRI cooling equipment can now be moved in-room with the MRI machine, simplifying installation and reducing required floor space.

Lab Equipment

Miniature piezoelectric actuators and pumps are used extensively by lab and medical pumping and dosing equipment due to their precise, repeatable, and reliable fluid dispensing control.

 
Lasers & Optics
Interferometers

Piezoelectric actuators are used to fine tune the position of mirrors in inferometers by compensating for mechanical tolerances. The solution is compact, there is no EMI, and provides sub-nanometer resolution.

Active Vibration Damping

Piezoelectric actuators are used for active vibration damping in mechanical structures where vibrations are undesirable. Vibration damping provides a stable platform for precision positioning of highly precise instruments. 

Lasers

Used in a number of laser applications, piezos provide ultra-precise positioning of optical mirrors and lasers.  They can also be used to provide stable narrow line-width output with excellent long tuning ranges or be used as a frequency reference for advanced laser systems.

Optical Films

Kinetic Ceramics machines are used extensivle by the optical film manufacturing industry.  High speeds and precise control allow customers to rapidly create a wide variety of patterns and micro-lenses for use in numerous applications.

Gravure Printing

Similar to optical film manufacturing, FTS machines can be used to etch precise micro-features in Gravure rolls at very high spindle speeds.  

Single Point Diamond Turning

FTS machines allow manufacturers to rapidly produce ultra-high precision asymmetric products such as oval pistons, offset mirrors, and contact lenses.

 
Oil & Gas
Compact Hydraulic Power Units

Combined with a small accumulator, PHPs are the next generation of HPUs for the oil & gas industry.  Their small size, high power, and extreme reliability make them suitable for numerous O&G surface and subsea applications including ESDs, PSDs,  HIPPS skids, hand-held valve openers, and more.

Chemical Injection Units

The reliability of PHPs make them ideal for remote CIUs including surface, down-hole, and subsea applications.   

Down-hole Pumps

PHPs go where no other pump can - their small size, high power output, and extreme reliability make them perfect for many down-hole applications
